Challoners Whin

Challenors Whin is the name of the junction of the 1860s diversion of the line to Scotland with the original route via West Yorkshire. The old line which still links York with Leeds and London via the 1980s diversion can be seen from the Askham Bar Park and Ride from which access to the Greenway begins.

Northbound HS125 joining the Leeds York line. Beyond the train is now the Askham Bar Park and Ride while to the left is now Tescos. Another photo showing a south bound Deltic with the Tesco site still a greenfield and Moor Lane bridge in the distance can be found on Flickr – search Challoners Whin
